Welcome to Year 5G's class page come and have a look what we have been learning about this half term. 

This half term our topic is



and we will be asking the question;

Can a tree survive in the Arctic?


As Technical people we will present our learning as an information sheet using powerpoint.  We will also be continuing our understanding of coding.

As Learners with high aspirations we will strive to do our best and gain an understanding of a different period of time.

As Geographers we will be learning about biomes  Learning about where they are located, their cimates, the animals and plants.

As Artists we will be looking at the artist Henri Rousseau on mastering technques.

As Readers we will use our skimming and scanning skills to research facts about various biomes. 

As Mathematicians we will use our skills to understand differences in time zones between biomes.

As Skillful people we will research and ask questions on different aspects of medieval life. We will use speaking, listening, enquiring and researching to understand how the Anglo Saxons communicated.

The questions we will be investigating on this topic are;

  1. What and where are biomes?

  2. Where would you prefer to live for a week?

  3. Can a tree survive in the desert?

  4. Could you be an artist like Henri Rosseau?

  5. Can a tree survive in the Arctic?




Spellings will be tested on Monday.

Times Tables will be tested on a Friday. 

P.E. will be on: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Please ensure your child has a FULL kit in school on all of these days (black shorts or jogging bottoms, a white t-shirt and a jumper for outdoor P.E..) 

Children will have Forest School (outdoor) every Thursday morning - please ensure your child has appropriate clothing. 

Homework will be given out on Friday's, and is expected back in the following Wednesday.
If your child is struggling with any of the homework, please tell them to come and see an adult who will explain it again.

Reading - children read with an adult every week. Please make sure your child brings their reading book and reading record with them everyday.
