Year 1W's Toy Museum

Class: YEAR 1C Year: 2015 - 2016

Year 1 have been looking at the history of toys and the differences between old and new toys today.

We decided to set up our very own Toy Museum. A Toy Museum; in a school? Is this possible?

Ms Waddell put on her thinking cap and began by using the information we already knew. The children wrote labels for old and new toys, wrote facts about the toys and even made their very own information booklet. We then decided that people needed tickets to come to our museum, so some children created their own, gave them to other teachers in the school and the children in Year 1H.

The children had very specific roles within the museum. There was a curator whose job was to manage the museum and talk to visitors about the artefacts on display; a shop assistant who sold the information booklets to visitors at the museum; a collections care officer who looked after the artefacts in the museum, handling with care and ensuring they were clean at all times; a bookings administrator who managed the entrance of the museum, made telephone bookings and stamped the tickets on entry; and a museum assistant who supported the curator ensuring visitors enjoyed their visit.

The children of 1W thoroughly enjoyed this experience, take a look at our pictures, we hope you do too!
