Welcome to Year 4G

Please encourage your child to practice their spellings and times tables at home along with reading daily.

Homework is given out on a Monday and needs to be back on Friday. 

Please ensure that your child is bringing their reading book and water bottle every day. 

 

Outdoor PE is Monday, please make sure that your child has their full PE kit: plain black shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms, plain white t-shirt and trainers (preferably black).

Every Tuesday is swimming, please make sure that your child has their full swimming kit: towel, costume or trunks and swimming hat (if applicable).

 

Our topic this half term is  Why did the Vikings build ships?

As a Historian, I can:

Place events from a period studied on a timeline.

Use terms related to periods and begin to date events.

Begin to understand BC/AD.

Understand how knowledge of the past is constructed from a range of sources.

Explain how events of the past have shaped our lives.

Identify key features and events of time studied.

As a Geographer, I can:

Use maps to locate countries arpund the world placing a focus on Europe and in particular Scandinavia.7

Make mapsof real places with increasing accuracy.

As a Scientist, I can:

Identify how sounds are made, associating some of them with something vibrating.

Recognise that vibrations from sounds travel through a medium to the ear.

Find patterns between the pitch of a sound and features of the object that produced it.

Find patterns between the volume of a sound and the strength of the vibrations that produced it.

Recognice that sounds get fainter as the distance from the sound source increases.

As an Artist / Designer, I can:

Use research and develop design criteria to inform functional products fit for purpose.

Select from and use a range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks.

Evaluate ideas and products against their design and consider views of others to improve their work.

Apply understanding of how to strengthen, stiffen and reinforce more complex structures.
